From a small business established in rural Montreal more than 30 years ago, Verdun Doors and Windows has become a business in which annual sales have reached more the $25 million range.

In the beginning, owner Michel Pion invested $500 to start his own cash and carry store in a rented garage in Verdun. His goal was to be competitive and offer cash and carry prices to the general public and general contractor.

After 17 years of operation, Pion sold the original store to one of his employees and took on new challenges by franchising his stores and opening a steel door plant called Portes Metalliques Jacob. He then opened Fenetres Dominic named after his son.

That same year Pion bought the old Renault plant in St.-Bruno Quebec where he moved both companies and the head offices of Verdun Doors and Windows.

Today, Verdun Doors and Windows count more than 6 stores in Montreal and now have been serving the nation's capital region since 1996.

The company retains the tradition of having all stores owned and operated by employees who have worked with Pion.
